It might be a “Cruel Summer” for Bananarama and Taylor Swift, but for us it’s been a pool summer. LOL!
Connor and I have been spending lots of time at the pool, and in between cannonballs, underwater handstands, and sharing pizza with neighbors and friends, there’s been sooooo much sunscreen.
Every hour on the hour, a timer on my phone beeps to remind us to reapply another layer. We’ve been pretty good about it so far!
All that sunscreen eventually has to come off, though, and that’s why today’s summer beauty buddies, two oil cleansers, are our pool day BFFs. Shout out to Bioderma Atoderm Cleansing Oil and Naturium Fermented Camellia Creamy Cleansing Oil for making it so easy to take the waterproof stuff off.
I’m sure you’ve done a double cleanse with an oil cleanser for your face, but have you considered doing something similar for your body? If you’ve ever struggled with removing zinc or waterproof sunscreen, then double cleansing will be a game changer! It’s so much easier.
Before hopping in the shower, I rub a few pumps of the Bioderma oil on the areas of my body where I’m wearing sunscreen – my arms, legs, chest and back. I do the same thing with my face and neck with the Naturium Creamy Cleansing Oil.
The oil breaks up the sunscreen so that it easily melts off in the shower.
When I hop into the shower, I use a soft washcloth to remove the oil and sunscreen, and then I follow up with a foamy shower gel on my body and a face cleanser to get extra clean.
It’s so nice to not have to scrub, especially when I’m wearing mineral sunscreen with zinc. It’s so easier and faster with the first oil cleanse.
If you can’t find Bioderma Atoderm, another thing you can try is makeup removing balm in a jar. I like the ones by e.l.f and Naturium.
Have you spent any time in the water so far this summer? I dunno, I used to only love the beach, but now I have a new appreciation for the pool. It’s easier for me to keep an eye on kids when they’re all in an enclosed space, and I don’t have to deal with the element of waves and currents. I also like having easy access to chairs, tables and shade umbrellas, and knowing that I can easily go to the bathroom. Maybe it’s a getting older thing? Or becoming a parent thing?
