What is different about the new Shiseido Synchro Skin Radiant Lifting Foundation formula?
The new formula has been enhanced with NEW skincare ingredients that address the three major obstacles that impede radiance: fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation and loss of hydration.
It now has 24-hour lasting wear (previously only 12 hours).
Shades & Swatches
There are 30 shades in the collection. I have three of them to show you here – 250, 260, 310:
My Review of Shiseido Synchro Skin Radiant Lifting Foundation
I have to start off this review by saying that I can’t make too many comparisons to the previous formula of the Shiseido Synchro Skin Radiant Lifting Foundation because I never managed to get it in my correct shade and so didn’t properly test it.
But as it now has more skincare ingredients and longer staying power, I was very keen to give this a whirl. I must confess, it was an instant hit and every time I have worn it (which has been every day for over a week), I haven’t needed any concealer at all.
I really enjoy how it instantly perfects and evens out my skin tone, yet looks really skin like and naturally radiant. I always tend to reach for concealer, but the fact that this formula makes me feel like I don’t need it is very impressive to me.
It delivers instant coverage with the smallest amount of product, and blending is completely effortless. The wear time is brilliant. It stays in place really well all day, and doesn’t even really rub off where my glasses sit which is a big bonus.
The finish is super flattering. I’d say it’s a lovely naturally luminous satin finish and that finish stays looking fresh for the whole day. I have combination skin with an oily-ish T-zone, and this formula works really well with that.
It’s great on hyperpigmentation, redness, pores and lines, even with just half a pump, and it doesn’t exacerbate any texture or uneven tone. I am absolutely loving it.
Frequently Asked Questions
What skin types is it good for?
This foundation is suitable for all skin type, however, with the added skincare ingredients, I’d say this is moist suitable for mature or dry skin types.
Do you need to powder it?
I haven’t found that I need to powder it, and it still stays in place all day.
Is it easy to apply and how should you apply it?
Less is more with this foundation. I have been using about half a pump, and then blending buffing and blending it in with my REESON No. 1 Brush. This combination makes it effortless.
What is the Shiseido Synchro Skin Radiant Lifting Foundation coverage like?
This foundation provides brilliant coverage with the smallest amount of product. I’d say it’s fairly full coverage and very buildable.
What is the finish like?
The Shiseido Synchro Skin Radiant Lifting Foundation has the prettiest finish. It’s naturally radiant. I’d say satin.
Is it good for dry and mature skin types?
Yes, I am 50 year and I find this formula perfect for my skin. It has lots of hydrating ingredients that cater for dryness too.
Is the Shiseido Synchro Skin Radiant Lifting Foundation good for oily skin types?
Because you only need a small amount of this foundation, I think this will work really well on oilier skin types. I am a combination skin, with a slightly oily T-zone, and it works very well on this area.
Is it long lasting?
Yes, I am really impressed with this foundation’s staying power. It still looks fantastic at the end of the day.
Does it cover melasma?
I don’t have melasma, however, I find this is brilliant at evening out my skin tone and minimising the look of my hyperpigmentation and dark spots.
Does it cover redness?
Yes, as a small amount of the Shiseido Synchro Skin Radiant Lifting Foundation formula goes a long way, I find it excellent for quickly knocking out any redness.
How does the Shiseido Synchro-Skin Radiant Lifiting Foundation compare to Revitalessence Skin Glow Foundation?
I’d say that this is fuller coverage and slightly less glowy than Revitalessence Skin Glow. It is also longer lasting. I love both formulas, but from the two, I’d choose this one if I wanted my makeup to last the entire day. Revitalessence Skin Glow is still one of my absolute favourites though, but I think this one is now ranking as highly!
Does Shiseido Synchro-Skin Radiant Lifiting Foundation contain sun protection?
Yes, the formula has an SPF 30 sunscreen to protect against UVA and UVB. Shiseido still recommend using a separate sunscreen product to ensure doseage. I have been applying it on top of my regular SPF 50.
My Shade
For all my shade twins, I know this is a very important part!
I spent quite a bit of time choosing my shade from the three samples I have. Although they look quite different in the swatch photo above, they only really have slight nuances in undertone. Having tried all three, I have decided that 310 is my best match (for now!!).
It might be worth mentioning that I actually use 250 in the Revitalessence Skin Glow foundation (review here), but with that formula, I find that the dry down is slightly darker than it first appears.
For reference, my favourite shade in the original Shiseido Synchro-Skin Self-Refreshing Foundation was 310 Silk, so I think they correlate to the original formula quite well.
Here are some more of my favourite matches for you:
Before & After Photos
With the shade range I have, I actually think I can make all three shades work on my skin tone, however, I think the one that looks the most natural is 310 (which I actually really love in the original Synchro Skin Self Refreshing Foundation).
PLEASE NOTE: Since taking these photos, I have realised that I can use a lot less product. So if it looks in any way heavy, that is why.
This is the before photo:
This is 310 applied (when I have used it since, I use less product):
