At Esxence 2024, I had the great honor of meeting Maestro Arturetto Landi at the Laboratorio Olfattivo /Kaon Distributor booth and later at Meo Fusciuni’s stall, who introduced the great Italian perfumer to me as his mentor. Having created more than 70 fragrances over his career, Laboratorio Olfattivo AMBERBOMB is the first for the Italian brand and introduces their new “extreme” collection, and it is indeed, richer, deeper and with more magnetism than anything I have smelt from the house to date. Before we get to Steven’s video, I asked these esteemed Italian perfumers a few questions as an introduction.

Michelyn: What was your inspiration for Laboratorio Olfattivo AMBERBOMB?

I was jogging on the amazing beach of SALALAH (south Oman), when I stumbled into a white stone. I took it in my hands and I started to rub it…What a perfume! It’s Grey Amber. AMBERBOMB is the memory of this unforgettable moment and the meeting of a raw material that I really love.” -Arturetto Landi

Meo Fusciuni of Meo Fusciuni Parfums is close with Arturetto Landi, and he shared with me their special relationship:

First and foremost, Arturetto Landi taught me and teaches me every time we meet life lessons, how to live the perfumer’s craft, not just technical notions. Today I consider him my mentor, I learnt from him to listen and keep every piece of advice, every little suggestion in my mind. I consider him one of the greatest contemporary perfumers, I love his intuition, I love his profound knowledge of the chemistry of perfume, his strong bond with nature, his ability to take the created accord to a level that is always unexplored. I love his charisma, his desire to always seek an improvement in the formula. His creations speak, they tell, and in each fragment the formula hides surprises. Whenever I have the chance to meet Arturetto, we often see each other in his beloved Lerici, for me it is like breathing. I started this job as a perfume poet, but if I can call myself a good perfumer tomorrow, I owe it to him.” With Love and gratitude- Meo Fusciuni.

Laboratorio Olfattivo AMBERBOMB is one of the finest creations I have smelt this year; it’s so artfully blended (the combination of iris and coffee with the multi-faceted earthiness of the Nagarmotha cannot be categorized) It is also not heavy, nor too fruity… totally unique. Steven Gavrielatos agrees; in his video he says it is one of his of Best of 2024.

It is an honor to have met you Maestro and see Meo once again. -Michelyn
