Strawberry season and the start of Wimbledon are a match made in heaven – ah yes, it’s a sure sign that summer has truly arrived, when the price of a punnet makes front page news, you casually debate wearing all-white outfits, and all eyes are on the weather for the dratted words ‘rain stops play’. Will this year be sunshine and chic outfits as the glasses of bubbles are glugged, and the berries are feasted on? Named for perfumer Sarah’s husband (it’s his nickname), then discovering it was the stage name of ‘a late 20th century Welsh magician’, the scent is actually inspired by Edwardian teatimes featuring ‘cigar smoke, tea, coffee, cognac and English desserts, tiers of cakes, piles of sticky buns.’ Containing strawberry furanone, ‘a molecule produced naturally by both strawberries and tobacco’ it’s heaps of fragrant fun.
